alright

I have an 88 5.0 coupe and I have only high beams for the head lights right now. If you flip the switch to low then I only have parking lights. Also I have no instrument panel lights or A/C panel lights. I had a spare headlight switch which I threw in and same problem. Where to next? bad multifunction switch?

multifunction and/or fusible links near the battery. I had the headlight problem and i change both my headlight switch and multifunction. it was the mulit that went bad though.

All fuses are good?

I'd check the back of the headlight switch connector for pins having pulled out or charry-ness (overheating).

Good luck.

Everything at the headlight switch is good. That was the first place I checked. Looks good there.

When I get home from work tomorrow I am gonna see if I can locate the problem. Maybe if I am lucky I will have two bad low beams and just need to replace the headlamps. Yeah like that would ever happen to me.

I just bought to car this afternoon, took it out for a drive and everything seemed good but it was daytime and checking the headlights never crossed my mind. Oh well.

Its and 88 ex fhp coupe. In decent shape for an 18 year old car. I was suprised that my wife gave me the ok to buy it if I wanted to. Now I just gotta fix some little things on my 93 vert, clean it up and sell it.

I had the same problem with the dash/AC lights... I played around with the dimmer for a bit and it fixed the problem. I know it was the dimmer since after I fixed it I blew the fuse two more times adjusting the brightness. New dimmer, new 5a fuse and problem solved for good!

A word of caution about multifunction switches is in order here. The multifunction switch (high/low beam, wiper, turn signals) are different for different years. 87-98 will work in any 87-89 car. The 90-93 switches only work in 90-93 cars. You can't put an early model switch in a late model car, nor can you put a late model switch in an early car.

I noticed that they had them broken down by year. I am gonna mess with it tonight and see what I can figure out with it.
