Have I gained a second in my ET?

Today I bought

-MSD 6A Box
-Ford 9mm Racing Wires
-Blaster 2 coil
-BBK aluminum underdrive pulleys
-having a shop delete the smog pump for me

factor in that I am gona be getting the car back with these parts plus a T-5 conversion from a AOD

is a possible 25rwhp? and Second gained on ET from these mods?

T-5 set up is just gona be with a FMS heavy duty clutch and a pro5.0 shifter

FEedback would be great

With the above mods, I would guess between 3-5 hp. The t-5 should give you another 10+ hp by reducing parasitic losses, and will make you quicker in general if you are a good driver. Impossible to guess what those mods will take off your e.t., but it's not going to be NEAR one second on horsepower alone.
What do you have for gears?

Underdrives got me 2 tenths and 3 mph, back when the car was pretty well stock and running 16's. At that time I had gotten rid of the AC (moved the PS pump up top) and put in electric fans, too.

When I did the T-5 swap last year, I gained 5 tenths with that alone.

You'll be awfully close. :nice:

3.73's are my gears....

with mods in sig do you think I'm 13 capable if I can drive er right?

Definitely capable; you'd be guaranteed with either an intake or drag radials; be sure to put in torque box reinforcements before slapping on DR's though.....

You car can do 13.50 easily with a drag radials now with that T5. It should feel a lot quicker.

Why would you pay a shop to delete your smog pump for you when your capable of doing it yourself. Its just a matter of removing a few bolts and getting a shorter belt.

I do alot of other ppl's cars and the last thing I want to do is work on mine, I dont feel like huntin down the belt and etc when my shop offered me 20 bucks to do it.

yeh 13.50's sound good to me....

after winter I want Cobra intake though, with Throttlebody and Mass air.....

You have mass air - if the car you're talking about is the 1991 GT, it has it guaranteed (unless you swapped it out).

I don't think that just ignition upgrades and pulleys are gonna knock off a whole second. My pulleys were good for 1/10. The T5 should knock off a few more tenths, but not enough for a whole one. That Cobra intake however will really help out. I did mine last Sunday and it REALLY woke the car up. I don't know what I'm running now, but I wouldn't be surprised if it knocked off half a second.

I thought the whole point was to loose seconds on the ET not gain ;)

Ignition won't give you more power unless the stock system wasn't working and that you have higher than stock compression. I'd work on those stock heads by at least removing the thermacular bumps... A set of 1.7 rockers will give you with more power than the ignition (provided the valves fit in the valve reliefs of the pistons).

I doubt it with stock heads.

I put on my ported Explorer upper and lower with the old motor and gained nada.

Probably because the ported pieces were too big for the stock heads and made the engine really soggy below 2K; something a 3900 lb. car like yours doesn't really need. An unported performer/cobra/street heat should give a very noticable gain with stock heads.

My 3900 lb car has 4.10s for a reason. Down low grunt was never - and isn't - a problem.

So you're saying swapping intakes on a car with stock heads is a half second worth of "noticeable gain" though? I'm not here to start *****, as we're all in this game together, but I highly doubt it.

Good, because I'm not here to start **** either, and I never said an intake would give him 5 tenths; the 20-25 hp from a properly matched intake/maf/tb should be pretty noticeable though, and would give him at least a few tenths.
I wasn't ripping your car either; I love LSC's. Just saying that if you had an EXTENSIVELY ported explorer intake on a motor combined with stock heads, that the bigger/mistmatched intake probably wouldn't provide any gains below 3,000 rpm, and would probably make throttle response/low rpm acceleration a lot less snappy as well as negating any benefit up top; especially with a heavier car.
Just my two cents.

My good friend<Angel Perez> has a white 91GT he runs at Palmdale,Ca<2,710ft elev>
The car is bone stock except for:
3.55's
K&N panel
shortbelt bypassing smog & P.S. pumps
removed swaybar
FRPP 9MM wires
13 degrees BTDC
sticky Kumho 17" street tires<255\40\17 I believe>
stock t-5

He runs 14.1-14.3's at high elevation.... So 13's for you should be a reasonable expectation too me.....

you won't gain too much from the other mods, however, an aod to a t5 swap is good for a full second to 3/4 of a second easily. IT's a day and night difference.

Yes you could gain right at or close to a second off with your changes the shop is doing for you...

A Cobra intake with everything else being stock will give you maybe 8-10hp...it will not knock off .5 tenths on its own...maybe a tenth...
