I got to drive my new setup for the first time today,
I have my longtubes wrapped and It keeps smoking on the pass side where 6 and 7 are near each other,...where the dipstick is too. None of the other wrap is smoking so I cant imagine why that place is. any ideas? kinda smells like burning oil but the dipstick isnt touching the headers

Another thing is, my lifters (I think) are ticking way loud when I am decel or holding rpms steady while driving. It never use to do this when I would start it in the garage. Im runnin 5w30, think heavier oil would help out? maybe some of that marvel mystery oil? My rockers are adjusted fine.

i went out and double checked and it def smells like oil. I thought at first since the dipstick was so close to the headers that it was burning the oil in the dipstick but who knows. I have heard that with header wrap it takes a while for anything on there to burn off. The weird thing is my breather on my valve cover is smoking also. ?

Oil is squirting from the dipstick tube either at the top or the base. I have this same problem. With the shorties, the oil would have missed the exhuast because it goes back. The longtubes, however, give the oil something hot to land on.

The breather smoke is blowby. The fact that it's smoking tells me you have crankcase pressure from blowby and this is exactly what causes oil to puke from the dipstick.

have any idea on how to fix it. engine only has 4k on it, runs like a top

I think with 4k on the motor you would not have blowby....maybe the rings are not doing their jobs.

To "fix" this, you should basically have open breather elements on the valve covers. This lets the pressure vent. You said breathers so I assume you already have them in place.

Add a hose over the end of the dipstick tube and loop it into a catchcan or continue the hose down the transmission to the underside of the car and let the oil be puked elsewhere. The hose under the car is actually beneficial because it causes oil to build up on the underside of the car and this preserves it.

I've been dealing with this for a year now and I cant find anything that actually works.

man if i had a dead cylinder i think if prob notice. I have the pcv and breather on pass side valve cover.

Disconnect and plug the pcv hose. Unscrew the oil filler cap and put a dryer sheet with a rubber band over it so gasses can exit but dirt cannot enter. Then drive around and see if further smoke happens.
