xsprw, traction is the only problem with gunning an f-body off the line. I do think that Mustangs have a bit better weight transfer off the line than f-bodies and maybe a bit lighter? Now the LT1 is very sensitive to temps so if you're racing a hot one and the barometric pressure was just right, you could very well have pulled him

When comparing an LS1 to an LT1, it's generally a bit slower down low but gains up top. Ironically, this is the same comparison you'll get with an LT1 and L98

Last year was the first time the Opti Spark has died on her car and it's got almost 100,000 miles on it, so that's not too bad. I'm not sure if the Opti spark died again this time or what but that's what my scan tool is telling me. It ran good for about 10 miles, then started missing and jerking then died. She tried to restart it but the engine kicked back on the starter and broke the drive on the starter. The last Opti spark was over a $1000 bucks so we're hoping it can be cleaned up and reused.
When we were at the track last year, as soon as the engine started getting a bit warm the times dropped. Let it cool down a bit between runs and it rips.

Oh my... opti's can be had for a couple hundred if I recall correctly... maybe you bought more parts? There's one guy all the f-body guys call when we need GM parts. I'll PM you his name, # and email. Give him a call next time you need something.

i say keep the SS if you like it. personally, i like everything about the Mustang except the drivetrain better than the F-body's, but if you are happy with it, you can't lose by keeping it.

the 2000 has the LS1 and not the LT1 correct???

All i know from driving my cousins 95 T/A, is that it definately "feels" like a more powerful car (then again he's pushing over 350hp), but that could be just because your extremely uncomfortable and are in a 20foot long car.

I test drove both and I prefer the Mustang. As far as LT1s having the low end juice, im not sure. His cars a 6spd and against a 5 speed GT, they were side by side until the top of second... then things fell apart for the mustang and i dont want to go into details

personally i prefer the body style of the Cobra, but its your decision. Im going to say resale value will be the same for both, i'd bet my pink slip we see a new Camaro end of 2007.

I would keep the ss over an 01 cobra.

Now an 03 or 04 cobra I preffer to the SS.

then again I was not that impressed with the 01 corba. I would have bought the SS in 01 over the cobra. The main reason I have a gt was because I though the cobra was overpriced in 01.

A buddy of mine has a 02 z28, and we ofter swap cars, on th street and at the track, just to drive something diffrent (his is auto). We are dead even in a race, he has hooker cat-back and a hypertech. I like both cars, though wouldnt trade, guess just cause im used to my mustang. Just go with whichever one feels best to you. LS1 is pretty expensive to work on, but with heads and cams, maybe even some juice, its hard for a n/a mustang to touch.

With heads, cam and exhaust you'd be hard pressed to see an 03'-04' Cobra run away from them as well.....never mind an early Cobra, or N/A Mustang. Add juice to that and you're looking at mid/low-12's and one pissed off '03-'04 Cobra owner.

if it's a daily driver, I'd go for the SS. If you plan to mod it, (and do the installs, yourself) then go for the Cobra

i paid 16,5 for it and its only got 10 thousand miles on it. i bought it from a guy who is meticulous. T tops hadnt been off and itd only been redlined (in any gear) twice
