head bolt replacement?

Ive always heard that when you swap heads you need new head bolts, so anyway, I bought a pair of ported E7s off a local guy and I went to the parts store to price gaskets and bolts for the upcoming swap, and The guy at the parts counter told me that for iron block and heads you really dont need to use new bolts, just oil them up good. This goes against everything ive ever heard, so Should I listen to the parts guy or not?

Factory head bolts are torque to yeild which means once they have been torqued down they cannot be torqued down properly again. Get new ones!

Listen to guys at speed shops who SPECIALIZE in Fords - Chevy guys always call a 351 a 350, which to me, loses all their credibility.

NEVER listen to guys at parts stores. I picked up a new A/C compressor this past summer for my '94 T-Bird and the guy at the counter and the conversation went something like this...

Me: I need a new A/C compressor for a 1994 T-Bird with a 4.6.
Guy: (silence for 20 seconds) That's a Buick, right?

you can re-torque stretch bolts 3 times--technically. but for the price of new bolts, why?

you can get a graphite head gasket, metal/rubber v/c gasket, head bolt kit for $89.

how about when you ask the parts store guy about a part for a ford mustang GT, 2 seconds later they ask 6 cylinder or 8cylinder

i thought it was a 3.8???:

dont reuse the stock bolts. they stretch when they are torqued and thats why you need new ones. so dont listen to the parts store guy
