head gasket Q?

ok, I got most the stuff to finish up the moter, BUT I have a quick ?. The Cometic gaskets I got only have water port openings on one end. So do I need to put them forward or back, or does it even matter?

they say nothing on them, I went round & round before I posted up, just couldn't bring myself to trusting myself.
