I need to get new heads. My ported RPM's are kinda messed up and not worth fixing. I dont want to downgrade but I dont want to go too big since I dont have a Dart block (I have a B50 Sportsman).

What do you guys think of these choices?

- Victor Jr's

- TFS Highport

- AFR 185 (or 205)

- TFS Twisted Wedge

I'm estimating that my ported RPMs flow ~ 270 or so.

Also I was told that the Vic Jr's require a taller VC and adjustable rockers, is this true and is the pita worth it?

Im running AFR 185's and they seem to preform very well. I think with a better intake they would be even better then they are now, a problem I hope to fix next spring.

they are all good heads, the afrs being the best out of the box. the others can be made essentially as good by being ported, but that takes away the cost savings over the afrs. iirc, afr 205s flow about 305

my crane pro magnum rockers fit under stock height valve covers on my 205s

if you could find some used TEA ported heads, you might be able to touch the afrs for about the same price

I dont think you will be unhappy with either the TFS or AFR. I have seen some impressive stuff from the TFS heads...buddy has some VERY VERY high end TW heads (6k in portwork) on a N/A setup and its a sight.

if your looking for around 500hp or so I think either the 185's or TFS heads (IIRC they are 175cc heads) will do great.

I ran them too long with the HG popped and the flame wore down material between the combustion chamber and a water jacket. They CAN be repaired (for about $600 total), and probably would be fine, but I dont really want to take that chance, and my tuner agrees.

It kinda sucks because they are ported, made good power, and to not downgrade in flow I'll have to go with something like a AFR 185 or similar.
