Head Studs

Who has used head studs? I assume I will have to remove the master cylinder to get the head on? Anything else if the engine is still in the car?

should be able to just uncrew the stud. its only hand tight

I have head studs and you don't have to remove MC. Just unscrew the top 5 studs, ARP studs allow you to remove them with an allen wrench, and pull off. I install the lower 5 studs and use them to align and set the head down. But the top studs will be a little tighter than hand tight because they will have either thread sealant or silicone on them because they enter the water jacket. Just get some ARP studs that allows you to remove them with an allen wrench.

I just pulled my heads off last night, and didn't need to take any of the studs out to get the head off the drivers side. It was close to the master cylinder, but there was enough room.

i didn't have any problems with my ARP studs. I can get the head off without much of a problem.

Call ARP because they changed the torque specs from the old. I have mine at 80 ft lb, top and bottom. They used to recommend 65ft lb. But give them a call though.
