Head torque

My two motors that I have been assembling the last couple days I came across this same scenario and this is what I did:

Motor #1= I used ARP bolts 170,000 psi and torqued them to 70 foot lbs all the way around. Fel-Pro stock style gasket. This is a mild combo so I wanted to see how it holds up with the lesser torque.

Motor #2= Same kind of ARP bolts, torqued them all to 80 ft lbs all the way around, Fel Pro Hi perf Blue Line (40 bucks each) This is the motor to be raced hard so went with the higher torque values, we will see how each holds up soon. Thats my 2 cents.

Thanks, I'm still working out traction problems but it's coming around. The 331 I'm currently running should be around 10.60s or so in the cool air this fall with decent traction. The new combo is a 342 solid roller, gas ported pistons, 0-balance. The goal is 10 flat naturally aspirated on pump gas and street legal.

Yeah, 80 long / 70 short should work well for you. I go less on the long bolts because I only torque my intake to 14 lbs and because I run head studs instead of bolts. Some guys go up to 24 lbs on the intake so in that case I would definately go 80 on the long bolts. Also the moly does not work as a sealer. ARP sells a different sealer for the bottom bolts. It works fine on head bolts just don't try it on studs.
