header bolts snapped

I was trying to get my headers off, and I could not for the life of me get the nuts connecting the headers to the midpipe off, they were rusted solid.

So I took a propane torch and heated the $hit out of them and took my big a$$ torque wrench to them.

They both snapped off.

Is this normal?

It happens some time

Heat makes them brittle :(

No Biggie ;)

If they give me any trouble at all

I don't hose around with them for one second :nono:

I just turn the dial to max on my big air ratchet and snap em :D

I have a bud in Mi. with 4 stangs and he snaps them often too. It drives him nuts that I (in the desert) have no issues removing mine. I remind him that in Seattle and Alaska, this was not so, and I was in the same boat. :notnice:

As said, just get new studs or bolts or whatever makes sense.

Good luck.

Did you spray the bolts with any lube prior to heating them? When i put on my o/r H pipe the bolts were rusty. These were 11 year old rusty bolts. We just sprayed the hell out of them with WD-40 and went to work.

Yeah that`s common.
You need something hotter than propane to heat them up like an acetylene torch or maybe propane with the oxygen tank.

Use antiseize on the new studs.
