I have been working on my 66 that has a 351 swap and some unknow headers that have been beat to hell made to fit well I am looking and there are bolts that stick through the shock towers I think they are for the upper control arms and they have a lot of thread sticking past the nut. Will it hurt any thing to cut these back and chamfer the bolt end for header clearance? The old headers in the car have been beat in for these places.

If the car is aligned properly already then cutting them down a bit won't hurt at all. If the car isn't aligned get that done first then see how much of the bolt still sticks out. I did this on my '66.

Good advice--I also did it on my 65' with a 393w and left about 3/8" out of the nut in case changes are needed later.
