Header install problems

Hey guys I have a real headache on my hands and any help would greatly apreciated.

I am trying to remove the drivers side header but cannot due to the clutch bar. How does this thing ome off? I only see one bot that I have unscrewed but it wont come out of the block.

Any ideas?

the other side is bolted to the frame rail on the other side. hard to see as it is under the steering column.

one tip, replace the Z bar bushings while you have it off to save headaches later on.

On a 65/66--No. I don't know about other years, but would assume not.

There are two 1/2" bolts screwed down in to the frame. A wrench should will work just fine, although it may take a while.

67/68 is the same, but I think the two bolts are 3/8" or 5/16".

He was talking about the head size. Just hope they come out without the backup nut in the frame coming loose. One on my 67 FB did

i am sorry guys but I am a little confussed... how do I get to the two bolts that are under the steering column that you guys are talking about?

Use a short 1/2in boxed end wrench to remove the two bolts that hold the
equalizers frame mount.
make sure that the bushing is in good shape and lube it before reassembling.

are the 1/2 inch bolts under the steering column or can i get to them from under the car or at another angel?

Where exactly are the bolts. I have been looking but i cannot find them.

Sorry, from under the car reach over the header and feel for them.
it is one thing that you have to do blind.
they are to the rear of the bar along the top of the frame.

ps. when putting it back in, start BOTH bolts and tighten with your fingers to make sure you don't cross thread into the hidden framenut. It is a real pain to tap out for new threads.

The bolts are on the frame top under the steering shaft, behind the steering box.

If I am reading you correctly, I reach under the steering box from under the car and feel for the two bolts. Is this correct?

sorry to be so difficult but i just want to be sure i am doing this right.

You should see them by looking down from up top, they're on the frame top under the shaft.
