header or not to header?

well my plan is to put a 1.7 KB kit in my 2002 GT, the modifications I have done and will do include American T catback, BBK o/r H, accufab 75 mm. TB, K&N fipk kit, BBK springs good for 1.5 lower. Now my questions are should I put the BBK LT headers in? will i see a big increase and also is it nessecary? Is it nessecary to do more suspension modifications, and if so what should be done? And my last question is can the accufab throttle body and K&N kit be used with the KB?

i'd header if your blower. my geuss would be youd see no less then 20 horsepower from them.

definately put headers on there, good stuff. i would do some suspension to put all those mules to the ground. sub frams etc. maybe some brakes if you have the cash. good idea for all that giddy up

DO NOT PUT THE L/T'S ON!!! You will gain 0 hp, trust me. That is straight from Kenne Bell. they've tested all the combinations and gained nothing with longtubes. I just bought the 1.7 and will probably take my L/T's off when I put the motor in. They are a true pita. If i were staying NA I would keep them. Your tbody may fit depending on the size, 70mm yout ok. If it's a 75mm it will only fit if you buy the "Big Tube Kit" CAI from Kenne Bell. I have an Accufab 75mm but don't have the Big Tube Kit yet. Go to Kennebell.net and look in the faq's section under the question headers. I was suprised too.

I would not.

you can make way more power than is safe from just boost. want more power add more pulley.

I mean once you have that intercooled kit you can go up to 14psi and almost 500hp. no need to spend money on headers.

My suggestion to you is read KB's site they have tons of info on there. If you had a forged shortblock I would say go for it but reality is 14psi is unsafe on a stock block. the 1.7L is not big enough for an all out race engine with ported heads and longtubes etc. you can't build the boost with an opened up intake track. So with the 1.7L I would just stay pretty close to stock. modify for the sound you like and add pulley till you power level is where you want it.

I wouldnt say you would gain zero.BUt it really depends on what you want.

Headers like the new BBK Tuned shorites are nice(i run a set myself).Longtubes are also nice but are a PITA to get to stuff,clearence issues,etc..

Headers are so expensive, I would skip them and just be happy with the KB...

wow for supposely not gaining anything from headers I sure felt a massive SOTP feel after i installed them but what do i know. Not all headers are expensive either. You can get flowtechs for $240 and $100 for the matching o/r x pipe. These headers are damn good quality too.

I had MAC ceramic longtubes and VRS X-pipe installed last week and gained 30hp. I don't think all that came from the X-pipe itself?

However, it's true that some KB'ed stangs may not gain anything as far as peak #s are concerned but you'll still get an improvement in the overall power curve. If you want a significant gain in peak #s, then I wouldn't rely on longtubes.

I would skip them too. I have them on both my cars, and now you have to take them off just to do a trans or clutch job. I did feel a gain from them, but since you have a KB just change the pulley.

You will gain N/A but not with the Kenne Bell. I felt the gain on my car N/A for sure.

From KB: We've never seen any worthwhile gains on the 4.6, 5.4 Ford/Lincoln, PT Cruiser or Escape from any header.

just dont waste your money on shorty's, 5.0 mustang mag did a dyno and gained like 1hp from shorty headers

Once you have S/C your engine, headers will make a bigger HP increase than the N/A crowd sees. Even shortie headers provide good gains with a supercharger.

Dont believe everything the mags say..

Shorties n/a may not help.But there have been guys that have picked up 5~8 rwhp on BBK tuned shorites..

WIth a blower ,they cant hurt.
