I've heard header wrap causes premature aging and failure

well if that article is tru then what if you use header wrap with coated header like BBk?

I was reading about that when doing my turbo kit. All the searching I found, I did not see anyone that had problems.

personally I don't know anyone using header wrap so I'm keeping my mouth shut as far as...does it work or not.

I would THINK that if the headers are coated it'd still be the same concept. Anyone else using headerwrap?

I wonder why most header wrap info says it will void header warranties. Does it affect the headers that much? Or is it just a liability out for the manufacturer.

It holds the heat MUCH better. Again, I have had no negative side effects and the headers don't leak or anything. I use a fiberglass/nylon LIKE material. It's been 2 years. Mine weren't that expesive cause headers are headers on Mustangs for the exception of long tubes. Mine are holley and only cost me like $120 or something. They work great and if they go I'll by another set.

O.K. cool but, I have long tubes does that change anything I wonder? I have seen some DEI wrap at the local parts store and wondered if it would be alright for my headers, which are fairly cheap also, plain jain hookers I think. Can you tell a difference in under hood heat?

Seems like I heard something like the wrap could cause moisture and aid in rusting

Also seems like ... the headers would be so hot ..............
moisture would not be able to be present

I got a friend who has it on his Cobra (Cobra Cobra not Stang Cobra) and he did it to keep the heat down in the cab. He said the wrap made a noticable difference.

Of course, this car is only driven rarely so if the wrap was causing a prob ... it would take years and years to see the problem develop.

Yep, header wrap is a cloth & when it gets wet, holds the moisture in thus causing the headers to rust out faster. Header wrap keeps the under hood temps down more. Header tubing has come a long ways from the 60's. In the 60's headers & coatings were not that good & headers rusted out rather quickly, from where they got a bad wrap. Tubing now does not rust out as quickly, so should last longer.

I have my dp wrapped. I had to take it off like 1 week after it was on to re-wrap more and it still looked new, but that is only a week. I wasn't sure about wrapping something that would get really wet though. Seems like it would dry since it would be hot.
