I have afr 185s on my 306. I have equal length shorys 1 5/8 on now. The thing is the exhaust ports on my AFRs are bigger than the headers. Im looking at the BBK long tube 1 3/4 in Jegs and wondering if it will give my slower times being too big. Are my current headers fine with good back pressure or should I go with the bigger long tubes? What are some headers others are running on AFR 185s? Thanks

Go with some 13/4 x 3.0 long tubes and call it a day, I've got em on my 302 and it felt better everywhere than my 15/8 shortys

I don't think you'll have an issue with either header provided they're long tube. a 1 5/8" header will suport far more horsepower than you're making, so don't feel pressued to go with the 1 3/4" if you don't feel they fit your needs.

I have 1 5/8" long tube headers on my 331 and am sure they're work just fine.

I think the fact that they were long tubes have more to do with how much better they feel, than their diameter.

They make new pistons every day, so why worry?

My buddy had a car with 1 5/8 equal length that went well in the 10's. Spend your hard earned dollars elsewhere if you ask me.
