Find yourself a set of Tri-Ys, they are inexpensive, they fit, and were the same type of headers Shelby used on the GT-350 289s.

You can get a set of ceramic coated Tri-Y headers from a lot of places for less than a set of black painted headers of other designs.

Long tubes by nature give clearance problems but the power potential is better than shorties. I really like Hooker supercomps myself and I didn't have any clearance problems with anything including my C6. It was a pain to install though.

Will regular HOOKER COMPS fit my '65 289? SuperComps are too expensive

I had the same question a couple of years ago and called the Hooker tech line. The guy told me the only difference between the Comp and Super Comps is tubing thickness. Other than that, they are the exact same shape and design.

Also keep in mind ground clearance. Long tubes drag on good speedbumps.
