First off, I know it's been asked many times before, and yes I did search.

BUT ... my stock headlights suck because they are starting to appear sandblasted, the sides are peeling, and I have a small crack in the driver's side light. Now, I'm looking at buying smoked replacements with NO AMBER on the sides. I know several places sell these, but can someone recommend a specific distributor/site etc? Basically, does anyone have some here that they bought and used for a bit that didn't leak/fit improperly/suck?

There are several threads on here where people purchased aftermarket lights and they leaked, couldn't be adjusted, or flat out didn't fit. I realize most of these are made in China, but is there anything decent before I break down and buy OE? I'd really like clear corners.

Something like this: Smoked Mustang Headlights 99-04

Thanks! :nice:

The ONLY way you are going to get OE fit, finish and no leaks is to get OE. I contemplated cutting the backside to remove the amber corners on the stock ones but then if I don't seal it up good it will still leak. I got these and I have 2 of the 3 you listed good to go, the leaks are still there barely:

99-04 Mustang Headlights - BLACK - No amber (Pair) [99HL002] - $139.99 : MrBodykit.com, The Most Diverse Mustang Bodykits and Mustang Aftermarket Parts on the Planet

I did even seal them up before I put them on the car with clear RTV sealant and still didn't work. I have only gotten water in once and it quickly evaporated in the sun. The water got in due to me washing it. I have been happy with them minus the small leaking. The look killer on the car and the fit was good. If you do get the clears you should get these as well:

Stealth Bulbs #3157 (Amber when ON Chrome when OFF) [STEALTH3157] - $39.99 : MrBodykit.com, The Most Diverse Mustang Bodykits and Mustang Aftermarket Parts on the Planet

If you don't get those you will quickly see how poor the amber bulbs look instead of these..

Thanks! Do you have any pics of them? Are they smoked (it's hard to tell from the pic on the web-site)? Have you had them long?

They have a light smoke, they arn't the bright look of the 99-00 but they arn't a super dark smoke either. I have had them for about a month and a half now since that's when I got my bumper. I didn't want my new bumper to look like complete crap because of the old headlights so I did them both at the same time. If the pics arn't good enough I can get more for ya.

Those pics are good. They look pretty good! So, are they the ones you linked me or the smoked version?

IE:

Those^

I am happy with them. I don't expect them to be as good as OE quality. IF you are looking for that then you will have to cut the stock ones on the backside and remove the amber portion. I have thought about doing that with the old ones but haven't yet.

I got the ones with the projectors from american muscle (not the led ones) in clear. Thought process being I can run an HID kit in the projector (I'm tying that off from the fog switch as a low beam) and the second lamp is set up on the high beam wire with the normal halogen bulb for the high beam.

Then I'm going to run a set of blackout covers and hope that the HID is bright enough to make night driving ok with the covers. The covers are a necessity due to how ugly those lights look with out them. :D
