Ok ive been looking into many different options as far as heads go, ive thought about buying a set of used gt40 cobra heads and doing some serious porting, but then again ive heard afr 165's are the way to go. Im also worried about piston to valve clearance as i do not want to dig into the bottem end, ive also heard about big port jobs on the stock e7's, whats the best and most affordable???

after picking up a set of gt-40's and then paying to get them ported and a valve job you will be close to the same price if not more than the afr's and the afr's will still outperform them and are aluminum so you save yourself a good 40-50lbs of the front of the car. i would go with the afr's it will be worth it in the end

Whatever you go with (iron or aluminum) .... just be sure to get the full potential of them. Get a better flowing intake & a better cam.

To much to be worth it, if you're looking for ported stock heads look at http://thumperoforangepark.com/ people here have been pretty happy with them.

Hey Danny, are you "hooked up" in SC now .... or are you just back in FL? You still going to Mustang Week? I'll probably give ya' a call sometime soon.

Plenty of peeps have built successful stock block combos using all kinds of heads with no valve clearance issues.

If I was gonna go with oem iron heads, I'd take a pass on E7's. Start with GT40p's or GT40's will be closely behind them.

If you are gonna scrimp on any part of the combo, I'd not pick the heads or cam. Any of that other stuff can more easily be upgraded later is how I see it.

Good Luck :)

Save yourself the headache and get the AFR's

Definetely! I went initially the GT40p route, and while the combo (see my sig previous and now) generated very good results, I almost couldn´t sleep for 2 years until I put the AFR165 heads on.. And my feelings were right, quite a diference..
