hello, new to the forum. was wondering what heads would work best for stock cam and edelbrock perfomer upper/lower as well as all the basic bolt ons. shes a street and occasional track

If you have the heads off, you are a few bolts from the cam. Or 1.7 rockers on the stock cam to help get the thing to work with your intake. As far as heads I like AFR 165's but they cost the same as anything else. Good moderate street/strip head. Pick what you want but match the whole set-up. Work around the intake since you have it and it will work well for your needs?

Afr 165,tfs 170-190cc,gt40's any of these will work/flow better than the performer intake. I like trick flows the best. And I def would upgrade the cam if I already was throwing on aftermarket heads/intake. It's all about the combination of parts. You don't have to go crazy with the cam profile though. A good everyday performance off the shelf cam would be tfs1,comp cam 264,etc. a custom cam from somebody like FlowTech Inductions,Etc is ideal.

what are your goals
stick or automatic
what is your budget
what gears in the rear

That being said, a tried and true combo is this

TW 170 heads
lsx springs from FTI
Tom Moss ported exlorer lower
FTI cam

easy 300-330 rwhp with the appropriate MAF, TB, injectors, exhaust

I havea 88 5.0 wanted to upgrade my heads thinking afi or trickflow 165 its an aod with 373 gears. thinking of getting a custom cam and victor x manifold but i wana go forced induction on it in te future...i dont wana buy head twice..should i get the 185 afi or stick with 165cc any help and info will be great thanks

A lot of people like the tfs topend kit. FYI the valve angle on tfs heads give a little more ptv clearance So you can run a little more cam than with Afr heads. What kind of forced induction? Turbo? Blower? Afr 185 heads have some ptv clearance issues over the tfs heads. I really really like the new tfs 11r 190cc heads. They come with top of the line PAC springs, bigger valves, locks&retainers, etc. Your ultimate goals should determine what head you go with. If you truly plan on making a lot of hp go with the bigger head(185-205cc). If it's going to always be more street than race you can go with the smaller cc alum heads. Just remember the entire package has to be designed to work together. Mismatched parts can make an under performing car.

custom cams are a bit away from my price range so thinking of a x or f cam and not sure im trying to stay away from a lot of fab work so maybe the on3 turbo kit or a used paxton not trying to yank tire but hold my own on the street i drive the car maybe once a week if im lucky ...my friend said 165 cc are good for under 500hp...But the power adder wont be going in any time soon. so i wanted something i can use for both applications
