My neighbor is trying to sell me his 351w heads because he wants to buy some aftermarket ones. Would these work on my 90 efi 302? I would get them if I new I could just bolt them up, but I dont want to get them if it going to involve a lot of work. Would these flow better than my stock heads?

use the 69's, the others are junk. The heads dont know what intake is on the motor, efi or carb. With either 351 head you need to buy stepped head bolts to make up the 7/16th deck holes and the 351 1/2inch head bolt holes

So those 351w heads are e7's? I do not need to go through the trouble of putting them on then because my e7's are still good. Do they flow better?

I do have to pass emissions but they do not check in my engine compartment.

So I guess I shouldnt bother since 302 and 351 heads are the same. Right?

The 69 heads will be better than your stock ones you have on you Mustang now. So if you can have them at a good price, I say go ahead and get them.

The 85 heads may not do you any favors. They're not E7's as E7 literally means They were first used on something in 1987. E7TE means "1987 Truck Engine".

However, Just because they're not E7's doesn't mean they're really any better than E7's. With a 351 I really don't know. I can say that on the Mustang, the 1985 head and the 1987 head were technically different but pretty much the same.
Maybe if you can get the part #'s off each pair of heads and post them, someone will be able to better tell you what you've got. :nice:

remember the 351 was never intended for anything more than vans, dump trucks , buses etc. The 351 heads are junk, the only 351 head semi worthy of use is the C9-D0

The late model 351 heads are the same as what you have. The early ones will flow better with bigger ports and valves, but you'll need pushrods, rockers etc or the rockers from the early heads. Not sure on pushrod length. The early heads use a non adjustable rail type rocker arm, instead of the pedestal mount you have now.

The guy with the 69 heads wants 350, but he said they need to be checked because the valves touched the cylinders. I dont think I am going to bother. That could have damaged everything.

350 is way too much money for 1969 351w heads that have valves that "MAY" have touched the pistons?! You could pick up a set of gt40p's for cheaper than that and make more power with all the emissions provisions and no rocker problems. IMHO dont bother.
