Heads up with Charger SRT8

I went at it with a Charger SRT8 earlier tonight and I have to say I am more than happy with the outcome.

As the light was about to turn green I brought up the revs to 4500 and let her rip. I recently spent some good money on an upper and lower arms to go with the drag radials. She hooked pretty good considering with a little wheel hop in 2nd. He had his foot in hard but in the end I think I spent my money more wisely in go fast goodies.

He took it well and gave me props on my car and said he never would have guessed.

Any way just thought i would share

Awesome man. They are low to mid 13 second cars so that's a pretty sweet kill. I have seen one 300c SRT8 do 12.9 but I don't know how those two compare...

I crap kicked a black SRT-8 at the track. They are bloody heavy and not geared well. All I had at that point was my C&L and a 91 Brenspeed tune. They can be quicker of course but gearing is their Achilles heel.

I must admit that going at it on the street is not the smartest or most mature thing to do. Believe me I have not street raced since I was a lot younger 16 or so and it was wrong then too. I frequent local race tracks all the time, but here in So Cal they are dying breeds...as are racers that will make the effort to race the cars. Brotherhood Raceway...gone, LACR...gone, Bakersfield...to far to just make a quick trip for me, Fontana....way too expensive for what you get out of it, Irwindale...1/8th mile does not let me run the car as I want to. I wish I lived in areas where tracks or events are plentiful.

we all know street racing is not the smartest thing to do, but sometimes u got to do what u got to do..speeding on the freeway is not smart either but we all do it!

good kill by the way, i had one of those for dinner once already, some older man in his late 40's w/ his teenagers in a black one, he gave me a up and down nod after i handed it to him and we threw up a peace sign , then i patted my dashboard and said "whoooaaa boy whoooaaa" then i trotted home...

Yeah, I hear ya man. I live in So. Orange County, and there isn't a track for a solid hour and a half drive in any direction. I was conversing with Pat Bates (the woman responsible for all that road construction along the 5 between Irvine spectrum and Ortega Hwy) and an OC Sherriff and they were talking about the increase in Street racing over the last 5 years or so and they didn't know why. I proposed the issue of a lack of racing facilities in the greater orange county & immediate L.A. counties. When coupled with the overabundance of high horsepower cars in the area makes for a lot of antsy highway cruzers. I suggested they open the El Toro Airforce base landing strip to a private contractor who could conduct a bi-monthly amature drag strip. It could create revenue for the city/county and alleviate the street racing problem. But when do politicians ever do what I think they should?

Sorry for the random, longwinded story, but I just wanted to share your frustration.

Yep I hear you and agree with you. I would rather race on a drag strip under controlled conditions anyway. It eliminates the "my car makes 600 hp!" clowns that rant and rev at the gas pumps but you never see at a drag strip even after you envite them to an upcoming event.

Hopefully someone will see the need and the benefit of having a dedicated drag strip soon in So Cal.

Yea, I don't think most people realize how serious the penalties can be. Especially kids. Getting caught street racing is about the same as DUI.

Even if the area is safe for a 0-60 sprint from a red light against someone, the risk of getting caught isn't woth it.
