Ive been doing some research on diff heads. I am going to do a budget rebuild this winter, with stock bottom end except new 30 over pistons. Since it is going to be budget the heads are not going to be new. So I did some searching and found that 351W prior to 74? are good, 289 hi-po heads, or E7's ported by Thumper? Wich would be the best for the job. Also what size valves would work best? No matter which I get they will be ported with hardend valve seats put in and cleaned up. Also I was going to go with 10:1 -10.5:1 comp. The motor will be carb. with a holley 650 and a dual plane intake. This motor will see alot of street driving and some track, So I want somthing with good low end torque, but sill wind out good top end. Thanks all

Ford uses the stock E7 heads with the smaller 302 valve size on the W engines !! for the street and a few blasts down the strip.. the stock valve size in the E7s will allow KILLER high velocity and make the W rip trees out of the ground.. and still power to 6K if you want to go there... larger valves ( say 1.85/1.55 ) will increase the top end power and flow and still maintain almost the same low end grunt!! You will need the 302/5.0 heads drilled out for the larger W head bolts... and then they are a bolt on mod!!!!

Just me............................
