there are three cables, all in different lengths (the shortest, seconded longest and longest). Where does each connect to on the control panel?

The cable that opens and closes the air supply from the cowl goes the knob labeled Air.
The cable that redirects the air between the heat vents and the defroster goes to the knob labeled Def.
The cable that controls the amount of air flowing through the core goes to the knob labeled Heat.
