ok im a retard and i REALLY need help! i thought i could access the the core but i just CANT get the HVAC box to come out or lower enough for me to get the core out!!!! Ive been using the mustang monthly walkthrough and it said there was only three bolts holding the box and i unbolted them all and that damn box wont budge at all!!!!
lol, oh **** thats an option I guess! But I dont have a cut off wheel or die grinder? Can i rent one somewhere? OR is there anything else i can use to cut it open?
That issue is exactly what I'm using for my heater core install. Thanks for the extra links Daggar. Now I hve a better idea of what to do once I start to break down the dash.
I appreciate it a lot too daggar! I wont get a chance to use the dremel until tomorrow but i'll keep ya'll posted and maybe a few pics and such too! I owe ya one!
well believe it or not, I finally found the time and energy to yank out that old heater core! Thanks to a bit of finesse and shimmying from my girlfriend! I will probably end up getting to putting the new one in on Sunday. The compartment that the old core was in turned out to be pretty clean and only a few drop of coolant leaked out of it as she pulled it out. Other than cleaning out any remaining sealant that still may reside in the compartment is there anything else I should watch out for before or during putting this new core in!?
Just get new goey rope sealant for the heater box and make sure you don't have more three or four spare parts when you're done. It's great fun on an A/C car, isn't it? I get to change the core on both the SVO and the '68. Both are A/C cars and because of that the job will be 100x harder.
