heater core question

any ill effect to NOT running the restrictor in the heater core?

Yeah,liable to get way too hot.It'll probably blow out too hot of air and you'll have less control over it with the temp knob.I'm not real positive.

i'd imagine the coolant would stay in the core longer, which, in my mind, would make it get hotter

I thought the purpose of the restrictor was mainly to lower the pressure inside the core, so it didn't spring a leak sooner?

no idea, which is why i'm trying to find out to avoid such things lol

It'll get just as hot no matter if you have the restrictor or not, it'll just take a little longer with it. The restrictor just keeps the pressure down so you dont end up having to replace the heater core again in a few years.

Other than putting more pressure on an already poorly designed heater core, there are no ill effects

You'll kill the life on it, so unless you like replacing it frequently, keep it in there or find something comparable to replace it with.

sounds good to me! which tube does it go in? if you are staring at the firewall from the front of the car, left or right?
