Engine Heater hose difference between the non pi and the pi intake.

So as you can see in the picture the non-pi has the heater hose coming off of the rear passenger side but the pi intake I got off of a Mercury mountaineer has the heater hose coming off of the front driver side. Do I need a steel line going back towards the back of the intake? I'm not talking about the cooling tube that goes underneath the intake I already have that for the pi intake.
