Heatercore hoses from firewall leaking

I need the replace one of the hoses from my heater core that go to the pipe cause it leaks. It's the one to the right when you face the 2 hoses that come out of the firewall,does anyone know the exact name of it and the size and length? Also should i just replace them both while i'm at it?I seem to finally maybe found at least most of the problem that i had with my car leaking thia time. When i was in my engine bay and i pulled the throttle cable the coolant came out of the hose and some squirted on me.

Go ahead and replace them both...they go to your heater core. I just replaced all my coolant hoses and due to being rough with them I had to take the dash out and put in a new heater core. When you go to remove the hoses...undo the clamps and slide them back then take a razor and cut the hoses to get them off. Good luck!

Take the cut hoses to the parts store and they should find a close match.

Replace them both. And like mentioned above cut them with a razor to get them off the heater core or you will be changing that also if you are not careful. The parts stores have the replacement hoses for the heater core, just tell them what you need. They will need to be trimmed maybe an inch. One is 5/8 hose the other is 3/4 hose.

Ford still sells those hoses too. Definitely cut them off or your will break the welds on the heater core like others have already said.

Absolutely. The heater core is actually brazed, so it's weaker than a regular weld. I had one of those hoses leak once, so I replaced it. Two days later, I had to do my heater core.

Also while you are in there replacing hoses...I bought the complete Ford Racing silicone hose kit that comes with every coolant hose under the hood for $100, new thermostat and seal, new anitfreeze and flushed the radiator before I changed the hoses (used STP Super Radiator Cleaner $4.95). Now I should be good for awhile....the stuff that came out of my radiator was nasty! Good luck and have fun.

Its a bit of a tight squeeze, but a good pair of gloves will save your knuckles. Don't forget to get the restrictor out of the 5/8 hose or you'll be doing a heater core sooner than later.

What are you talking about when you said "restrictor out of the 5/8 hose"? I hope I didn't leave something in mine. The heater works great and the engine temp stays down. Thanks.

Since you have an '89, there wasn't anything to swap over...

Starting in '91, IIRC, they started putting restrictors in the inlet hose to keep pressure from blowing the core at high RPMs.

One more question,is are the hoses going to leak alot of fliud when i cut them? I'm about to go and cut them both off and ride my bike to the store to buy the hoses in a bit.

Nevermind,they hardly leaked at all. And i just got back from discount auto and they said the part would get there in 3 hours so i can pick it up.
