Heidts or TCP?

I have a 66 mustang in which I would like to install my 411hp, 351W motor into but I need to upgrade my suspension, both front and rear. I also need a lead on where I can locate a Griffin 7-565BC-Fax alum. radiator w/trans cooler. I already have installed a 4w disc brake master booter from MPower. I heard that some one named dolphin was working on a coilover kit but I don't know much about it.
 
The Heidts/Mustang II requires major, irreversible surgery to the car and transmits stresses to the so-called frame rails instead of sharing them with the shock tower and firewall.
Since a 351W fits in the early cars without shock tower elimination, my vote is that you pursue any one of the tubular heim-jointed control arm setups out their from TCP, Global West, Ron Morris, or RRS.
I don't know anyone who races or does serious HPDE days with the Mustang II setup... (and you know they would if it was better).
 
Go with a rack system or maybe a new Box. I just purches a rack kit from Unisteer as I'm doing the exact same thing. Did a lot of research, opentracker has good stuff, another route may be the Fatman susp setup, it depends on your budget and how far you want to go with it.

The MII setup requires you moving the engine foward or thats what I heard, so I was not trying to go that route. I went with the rack kit from Unisteer due to my budget on this project, and other things I wanted to get done. See my Unisteer thread for more info.

In the end, its what you want and how you want to get there. I think for me, my option will work just fine, and then I will get to the back of the car.

I agree! The only real reason to do the swap is to gain room for a modular motor or a big block. There may be a little higher initial cost for the bolt on tubular set-ups, but you need to really consider the installed price! If you're doing it yourself and have a good amount of time, Heidt's could be a viable option if the room is needed.
 
Remember that the Fatman kit is basically a hardware-and-bracket kit. When you buy this, you still need to get a rack-and-pinion, hubs, bearings, rotors and calipers.
 
Not only that, but with the TCP kit, the stock metal is reatined, possibly increasing the value of your car in the eyes of apprasers. I just installed the TCP front, rear coilover and steering rack and love it. The install was easy and everything, pretty much lined up.
My problem now is I need to widden my engine bay. anyone know how to notch a shock tower by 2-3" a side above the Shelby (1"lower) upper control arm mounting possition? teh engine I am using is 31" wide. Shock towers - 26"-27"
