Heidt's Rear 4-Link Coil-Over Suspension

I received my measurement sheet from Gary at Martz Chassis and I plan to order mine this week as well.

I might have considered the air bar setup, if it would allow for a minitub.

The AirBar Set up uses all stock mounting points. I sold mine Airbar due to tire clearance issuses and the fact that it would not let me remotely take advantage of the mini tub. Though from what i understand with that, and the TCP G system knock off if you will not need panhard or watts link. Since upper4 link arms are not parrell with the lower the minimize the need for typical additional laterial support with four links. I oppted for the hiem joints on everything to reduce the risk of any binding. I also order my rear through Martz and brakes through them and got a pretty good deal. If you guys would like to see pictures of the suspension, brakes, and rear with all the mounts welded to it let me know.

Though with the Martz Chassis 4 link. If you guys are running TCP Subframes like me there is going to be an issues with the SF residing in the same place that your 4 link cross member wants to go. though what i plan on doing, is cutting down the cross member and its mounting plates off. This way i could weld the crossmeber onto the TCP SF plates that wrap around the inner part of the SF itself. if i rember correctly 6/32 need to be cut off each side to use the TCP SF as mounting points. I can also post pictures of that as well later this week when i can tackle that.

Ronstang, which Griggs GR-350 system did you choose?

68FBJJZ109, I'd like to see pictures?

Also, any reviews/comparisons after installation of any of these set-ups would be informative. Like the before and after, would you do it again or would you choose a different setup? Thanks

and one more picture. Hopefully this helps. All the rod links have very high quality rod ends, and are made from chromoly tubing. THough everything does come bare, I painted everything you see there all ready. Tomorrow the main 4 link crossmeber will be cut down to fit within side the TCP SF. hopefully by the end of the week the suspension will be finished off, and i can post more pictures. If you have any other questions about the set up feel free to ask.

I'm not sure I understand. There is only one Griggs setup for the early cars and this one is a 66 coupe. I am doing the full front and back suspension, mini-tubs, and roll cage. This car is being built for the track yet will be completely streetable if desired.

Though can't you specify weither or not its for street or track use? I am not sure if that effects what parts you get or if there is even such an option with griggs. They might just give different recomended settings for the car.

It is a completely streetable suspension setup even though it is designed for the track. There is only one level of Griggs....all the way. You can drive this car anyway you choose. It is totally race oriented if you choose to race but can be daily driven is you choose. It is fully adjustable with coilovers at all four corners. For street use you could simply choose milder springs if you like.

Hey Ronstang, what track are you planning to run on? I would like to eventually get into this type of racing. Also, who are you going to get to install the cage? Hope I'm not being too nosy.

This car will used at Sears Point out in CA. It is kind of a crazy deal. I am building this car for my buddy who is trading it off for some other cars in CA. I am doing the cage myself, well actually I have already done the cage. Finished it last weekend.

How is it no one has purchased this?

High initial buy in. I am running the EVM setup because I was able to buy in pieces which really lightens the burden. I have the Watts installed now and I am waiting for the 3 link. You're in the area (MD) so I am sure we will run into each other and you can get a look at it in person. I am still hopeful that I will be running full pipes with this setup when complete

The Evo 3-link is sooooo expensive though and my car is more for the street and once in a while the drag strip. I'm not going to be cornering too much with a 514ci in the front. Plus I've already spent way too much money restoring it.

I'm just wondering what would be better the 4-link or my the Watts-link and leaf springs w/ no 3-link.

A customer of mine installed the Heidt's 4-link and absolutely loves it. He says his car (hot 347) hooks like never before and rides great.

The kind of input you get from reading Corner Carvers is top-notch if you are on the track a LOT and are looking for all-out cornering performance, i.e. squeezing out those last tenths from your lap times.

Here is the reality: a system like the Heidt's one is fantastic for the street and real-world use and you'll love it. You'll never notice any "binding" issues in a million years on the street and during spirited fun driving in the twisties. The presence of bushings takes the edge off and keeps the fillings in your teeth. You can't beat the price either. So, while the other guys are spending all their time and money fretting about binding, roll understeer, and anti-squat you'll be out enjoying your car.

Just my .02.

Thanks Reenmachine

that's what I figured. I'm already running the Rod & Custom Musting II Front end, I figured the backend needed something too, just not $3500-10,000 of something. What's nice is I don't have to worry about it right now, it's one of the last things on my list. Still doing sheetmetal work and the front-end and need to fit the engine & trans. I've got a while.
