so, on my way home from work tonight, driving the Taurus because the mustang is in the garage waiting to be waxed for the bowen scarff show tomorrow... and I'm about to pull into Jack in the Box, and this cop pulls out behind me, and pulls me over!

"Do you know the speed limit on this road, son?"
-"Um, 35?"
"yeah, do you know how fast you were going?"
-"um, 34?"
"yeah, making sure you knew. I pulled you over because you have a headlight out. ...Driver's Licence, Registration.... ok, I'll be right back"
-"damn! I didn't know I had a light out! fricken A! I can't get another ticket, I'm only freaking 19!"
"well, I'm going to give you a ticket for the headlight out, I've talked to you before about this, so I'm not going to give you a warning."
-" "
"sign here!"

the story of my life... 6 tickets, and even more times than that pulled over! and I'm freaking 19!! not a good start to my driving life...

wow, sounds like youre getting screwed over. when i started driving i grabbed 3 speeding tickets within about a year. then as one fell off i always replaced it. i went on like that for about 5 years.

Dude, just go to court and fight it. Duh. If its something minor like that, it's your fault for not seeing if they'll take the money off and the ticket off your driving record. I'm guessing that in six tickets you've never tried. Technically, it IS your fault for not checking the tail light before you left, but still.

I've never gotten any ticket...because I don't drive stupidly.

They make that extremly expensive in Midland TX where I used to live. There you have to pay the max fine, court cost, and jury fee at the time you enter your plea. It's really a bunch of bull crap, but no one has challanged their procedures in court so that's the way it is. Oh and as I discovered if you don't have the cash at the time you go to enter your plea you have to pay the max fine, but you can pay that out over time.

"they don't know me too well, do they?"

-Fred Hopkins... at O'Brien Law Firm, in Issaquah, gives me a "frequent member discount" oh well, at least I'm saving some money by this but yeah, I NEVER just pay my tickets... I always fight them... POWER TO THE SYSTEM!

Damn.

All I can say is, I'd hate to see your monthly insurance bill... Same thing happened to me after I got my license a LONG time ago. Got 5 tickets by the age of 20--no matter where I went, the cops were always there waiting for me. Driving a red car didn't help, but still.

Brian, my suggestion to you.........QUIT DRIVING

Yes, you might not be paying the ticket....but, someone has to pay the Lawyer that you always hire...so, doesn't that get a little expensive??
