Hi, I have an 88 mustang gt conv. I "acquired" the car from a friend about 2 months ago and have yet to really do anything to it. From what I gather from my friend the car is on it's second engine (with 80k miles on it) and before he got the car it was stripped of all it's plumbing (heat, ac) alot of the frame work and supports for the bumpers are ripped out and the only mod he was positive about is that it has a shift kit.

I have noticed the speedometer doesnt work correctly (it is about 15 mph off, ill be going 50 but it reads 65). Parts for this car are almost impossible to find locally, all the junk yards I have called tell me the car doesnt exist anymore and that I cannot get parts for it. I had to get universal seatbelts and drill them into the frame myself (of course the car didnt come with front seatbelts). Other stuff like the horn doesnt work, the fog light fixtures are gone, ac compressor is going bad, cant find an ac delete kit...etc. So I guess my question is, where do you guys get parts for this car?

that's pretty sad that you were given such ****ty information. FyI, parts for these cars are ALL OVER THE PLACE!!! You should NEVER drill out for universal seatbelts, they are a dime a dozen!! these cars come into the junkyard all the time, additionally, places like this message board, and especially corral.net have the biggest classifieds ever, and you can find just about anything. Ebay is also your friend. 50resto.com sells almost every part for the car you could imagine. Order their free catalog.

additionally, check out my site at 50stangs.com, and if you want a specific part, I can usually find it without a problem, just fill out a parts request on the link to the left.
