I'm thinking about trading my Escape for a new GT coupe. I've also been looking at the Camaro, but it doesn't have very good blind spot visibility, and that's important here in SoCal. I've been looking at a bunch of reviews, and they're generally positive. The only serious negative I can see is body panel fit on some cars. I find that interesting because all the panels on my 2014 Escape are perfect. It makes me a little nervous about special ordering a car versus buying one off the lot. Anyway, I'm just beginning the process, so I'm a long away from actually putting money down. Good to be here.

Welcome to Stangnet man.

Do the trade, you won't regret it.

I'm not much of a fan of the new camaro, hard to see over the hood as well, and I'm 6'2"s myself! Looked nice when it was in a movie though.

Honestly, I've seen quite a few of the new mustangs and haven't really noticed the body gap thing. Let me get one of the guys who just bought one, he can tell you his first hand thoughts. @Boosted92LX

My father would always special order his mustangs from 1964 and on from there. Figured he'd get one that hadn't been used as a test vehicle. Seems logical to me.

When you get a chance, go to the subforum for S550's. You'll find lots of info for your car there. Maybe even the about the gaps as well.

Thanks a lot for the info. From what I've read, Ford has been cooperative in making body panel adjustments under warranty if needed, so that's not a show stopper for me. I've always wanted a pony car, so maybe now's the time. I do like the acceleration and handling of the turbo Escape, but I'm sure it's lame compared with the GT.

It's different completely.

I'll wait till Allen replies, he'll tell you about it.

He has a turbo fox that has lots of horsepower, considerably more than his new S550. But I believe I can say without doubt that he LOVES his new car. He'll be able to tell you the little details about it better than I.

I've just driven them with no long term effort involved.

It's only an inch or two. What's the big deal?

It's true. I love my car. It's a funny thing about panel fitment and gaps. Mustangs have been known for mismatched gaps since they rolled off the line in 1964. My fox has panels that aren't perfectly gapped if you wanted to be critical, but it's a beautiful car. I did notice a gap on my 2016 that wasn't perfect the other day and chuckled to myself. "Definitely a mustang," I thought. It is a great car though. Definitely a step up from a focus. You'll love it! Go for it!

Welcome! You are already talking to the right people here. The new GTs are definitely nice. Just go test drive one. You might not leave the lot without it.
