Alright so i finally broke into the 13's :nice: now i need to buy a helmet.. the track says i need a Snell 2000 or higher.. Now i see Snell SA2005.. is that higher? and where can i find one for as cheap as possible.. has to have a snell tag inside the helmet not just a sticker.. can anyone point me in a good direction?

I'm in the same situation. I need to pick up a helmet before I can hit the track. I used to have one when I had a motorcycle and it was pretty cheap, but I'll be damned if I remember the size to be able to order one online.

Good luck man.

As noted above, confirm if you can use an M (motorcycle) helmet or if you need an SA (sports application) rated helmet. SA is considered above an M helmet. I used s Shoei Snell M2000 at Englishtown with no problems. I also use it for autocrossing. I will be going to an HPDE where they required an SA rated helmet so I just bought a SA2005. Ratings will include Snell specifications with years of the spec; ex:2000 and 2005; I believe 2005 is the latest spec. Most places will want the helmet to be only 1 or no more than 2 models out. Hope this helps.

I'm sure they will allow a motorcycle helmet if it's Snell approved. I don't see any reason they wouldn't. We have used motorcycle helmets with no issue but that was kind of a back woods redneck track. I would go to your local Honda, Suzuki, Yami or Kawi dealer and find a cheap Snell approved motorcycle helmet. You can get an HJC for around or a tad over $100.
