Well, my brother took his 96 cobra into the tranny shop a while back to replace the shift forks, and it now has a severe bogging problem!

Let me first say that this car has never done this before, and I find it a bit ironic that it starts the first day he gets it back from the tranny shop.

Ok, when the tranny shop worked on it, they couldnt acess the tranny so the bent the lt headers out of the way...and there now resting against the frame...WTF!

The symptoms are as follows:

When accelerating in any gear, it will pull like crazy...and then out of the blue bog like a mother. He can let off the gas slightly, get back on it and it will again pull...and again bog. When it bogs, the exhaust note changes. It reminds of a four barrel carb, that when you stomp on the gas, only 2 barrels open.

We have checked all o2 connectors and electrical connectors and found everything to be in order.

We have thought it may be the iirc's, but find it a bit strange that it just now starts after he get's it out of the shop.

Hmmm, that shop sounds shady! I'd be a little wary about going there again in the future...ya know? Did they even offer to fix the damage to the longtubes? That's not right!
Does your brother know if they put any miles on it (did he make a note of the "before/after" reading on the odometer)?

Have you pulled the plugs and examined them? What did they look like? When was the fuel filter changed? I'm guessing spark & fuel are OK. How many miles are on the car? Around what RPM(s) does the car bog down? It's possible that it could be an IMRC issue...

Well, the owner is out of town for the weekend, so my brother is going to wait until monday to try to resolve it. He will call tomarrow just to be sure though.

According to them, they didnt drive it very far because it was missing the clutch spring . He has an aftermarket clutch quadrant, and I guess they didnt know that it doesnt have a return spring.

We have not pulled the plugs, changed the filter etc. The car ran perfect (with the exception of shot shift forks) before they got ahold of it. The car pulls very hard at first in any gear...but will bog starting around 3k rpm. It does not necissarily start at 3k though. Sometimes it will pull up to around 5k or 6k, then bog.

Is there any way to check if the imrc's are opening or not (without taking the intake off).
