Help an old man out.....

Well all that I can say is, once you start modifying your mustang, it gets very addictive. I think, oh i'll just drop this motor in and be happy... wrong... next thing i know im swapping out headers or planning a budget for a new ignition system or throttle body... Its a real trap, its very fun, but very expensive and addicting, i hope you know what your getting into

Yeah, been there and done that. That's why I'm stopping at whatever setup I decide on. I told my son I would build him a good strong engine, and anything after that, whether it be adding more mods or having to rebuild because he blew it up, was totally in his hands. Since he doesn't yet have a full time job, I figure more mods will be a good ways down the road.

Just dont drive the car, or your hooked =) The good thing about our foxbodys is that they are reatively cheap to modify. But it adds up just like any other thing does, but whos counting? have fun and good luck with the build, hope everything goes smooth and as planned =)

wait till he trips into the blower world at school. and finds out that he has a solid gold foundation for a blower. Then it will be a diff story lol! wish my dad was willing to build me a motor.

not much help here...but i just wish you were my dad. my dad doesnt know jack about cars...he was in total awe when i fixed my heater core and starter problem. i hope you find the setup that you want. good luck, and tell your kid i said hes lucky to have a dad like you, mine wouldnt even buy me a mustang.

Yeah, he has a buddy that has a blown '73 chevy pickup pushing around 850 horses....Not street driveable....and an older blown mustang pushing around 600 horses as his daily driver. I'v already told him though, anything like that will be up to him if and when HE can afford it.

Have you ever considered a 351? Sure they are a bit more money to convert to, but they have tons of torque and can be stroked to total monsters. Just an idea. Good luck with your plans.

lmfao...thanks, but he would probably disagree with you sometimes about being lucky I'm his dad. But, I'm still young enough to remember what it was like to be 16 and want a bad car, so I'm just trying to help him out a little.

i disagree...i know plenty of people that had fast cars when they turned 16 and never had a problem. and if his dad trusts him enough to put his own money into it than i dont think its a problem. i know a kid that his first car was a 93 lx with a 347 stroker puttin 425 at the wheels and hes never even gotten a ticket.

I appreciate your concern, but believe me, I have thought about it long and hard before I decided to do it. Yes, he is 16, and it is HIS first car. He has been driving mine since he was around 12. He is a very responsible driver for his age, and I believe he can handle that kind of power.

I also disagree. When I was 14 I had a Firebird with over 350 horses and loved every minute of it. Never treated the car bad and never had any problems either. It all depends on the driver.

You did not sate how od your son is, a high horse power car lght weight car is not a good first car. Please consider your sons health and well being as well as other people on the road. There are have been too many injuries and deaths in these cars.

I do not question you or your sons intentions, just be safe.
