Help! car won't start

So I had to have my car towed today because it wouldn't start it's a 67 stang with a 200ci. It has spark and fuel and will crank and turn over,but won't start. First we sprayed starting fluid in the carb and that didn't work. So we ran to Kragen bought a new cap and rotor because the old one was corroded and installed it but still the same result spark, fuel, crank, but no start. The car is at my house now and I need to know what to look for tommorow. Thanks

What do you mean it will crank once?

Check the battery, and connections.

It will crank and turn over but it won't start.

Do you still have points? and how old are your spark plug cables?

Timing, Compression
Does it spit, sputter, or backfire out the carb?

Bad Gas, Too much gas, or not enough.

Disconnect the fuel line at the carb and run it into a coffee can. Make sure you get a good flow of fuel out when cranking.

If it is pumping enough gas, usually it'll smell like gas. Is the carb bowl full of gas at the proper level?

Gas, air and spark. Is the spark at the end of the plug wire or the coil wire?

Pull the distributor cap and crank it over to make sure the rotor is turning when cranking. Did the car just deterioate to this point or was there some change recently?

So I came back to it this morning and it started right up. I tried it a few times and started and ran fine for a few times in a row then it went back to how it was last night. Tried it a few times again and it started fine and then eventually went back to how it was last night. I was wrong before instead when it won't start it will crank once but won't turn over. By crank once I mean when I hit the ignition switch it will spin once and that's it. Me and my dad are thinking that the spark could be weak because it sounds like it's not firing and getting spark when it doesn't start, and plus the same thing happened to my neighbor on his 67 camaro and he had to run some sort of direct wire with a toggle switch to fix it (not sure going to have to ask him later). Ideas? O and its not points.

There are cranking problems (battery, starter, cables, solenoid) and there are Ignition problems (Coil, wires, plugs, resistor wire). You need to determine what you have so we can steer you in the right direction.

How long does it turn over (Crank)? If it stops cranking, there is no sense in looking at your ignition system, you need to check the cranking issues.

If it cranks only once then doesn't, with the key in the on position without trying to start the engine, feel the outside of the battery cable and see if it is warm to hot to the touch. If it is, then the cable isn't letting enough of the battery cranking power to the solenoid/starter.

.....or maybe the timing is so way off.
