I just made it home from a weekend road trip, for at least the last 35 miles of the trip my car would not rev over 3,000 RPMs even in neutral. Everything would seem fine at idle or cruising at highway speed, but anytime I would get near WOT the car would rev to 3000-3,5000 RPMS and hang there or even drop (rev to 3,500 then drop back to 3,000 while my foot was on the floor. I tried stopping turning the engine off and back on, and also pulling the battery cable to reset the computer with no luck. I also tried downshifting to 3rd at about 70 mph hitting WOT again same result, the car slowed down to about 3,000 and hung there. If I would keep this up for any amount of time the car would start running rough (I assume bad A/F ratio). I have a OBDII scanner, and I had planned to check such things at the TPS sensor, etc. when I made it home, but heres the BIG problem, the car started running like normal as soon as I pulled into my driveway (I tried reving it one as I was coasting to a stop in the driveway, and to my surprise it happily shot past 5,000 RPMS). Does anyone have any thoughts on this, what to check for, should I replace the TPS, etc?

p.s. today is the warmest day of the year so far with highs in the low 80's (the A/C was off I had the windows down)
