Alright, you mentioned Ford and firewall adjuster. Do you have an aftermarket adjuster since Ford doesn't sell those? If so, did you take the rubber part off of the cable where it goes through the firewall since the factory cable wasn't adjustable? Have you turned the adjuster all the way in? You routed the cable exactly like it was? Have you hooked the cable onto the quadrant first? INFO......

You purchased the right cable from Ford and no, unfortunately no, Ford does not sell a universal cable. So, either it isn't routed correctly or you need to struggle with it a bit more. The cable should be hooked onto the quardrant first, dial the adjuster in, and then onto the release lever which typically has to be pushed forward to get the cable on. Maybe double check the routing of the cable to make sure its right too. Where are you located? Anyone near you sell an adjustable cable? We do, but we're in northern IN. I didn't thread in your sig where you live. Wait, I just read it, too far away to get a cable from me.

Maybe have a buddy help hold the clutch pedal all the way up as well to make the cable the longest possible. Good luck.

I'd order a new adjustable cable from Summit, 2nd Day Air if you're in a hurry, and your troubles would be over. Or, do you have any speed shops in your area that might have one ?

The question is....is the adjuster screwed all the way in until you can't turn it any further? You should not have to force the cable onto the quadrant and there is no quadrant made that is too big. The only plastic cutting you do on the cable is on the small tabs that stick out on the firewall end of the cable. These are simply nipped off and filed smooth then the cable end fits all the way into the adjuster screw.
