HELP! CLUTCH CABLE IS TOO SHORT!

I'm pretty sure we ran into this on our 89 LX. The stock cable was too short with the FW Adjuster and aftermarket quadrant. Had to order an adjustable cable from Summit... Wish I had better news...ECU5.0 said:
yeah, the adjuster is screwed all the way in. another question for you guys....alright, its kind of hard to describe...but there are two holes in the quadrant...one in the middle and one at the back...is there supposed to be anything that goes through the back one? the hole that is closest to the firewall? because mine doesnt have anything going through it...and that might be the reason why the cable wont fit....the quadrant would be rotated towards the driver too far and couldnt allow the cable to move all the way?

All aftermarket cables are purposely designed to fit 82-93 Fox's then there is a longer one for 94-newer sn-95's. If he routes it like the original and installed the adjuster correctly, there should be plenty of play at the quadrant.
the cable is routed correctly...but the housing is just too long it seems...there is that bracket for the cable housing right in front of the clutch fork that it sits in.

alright...thats what i figured...i just took the aftermarket quadrant out and looked at it. the guy who put it in didnt put the back hole on the shaft. that will probably solve my problem. thanks guys

alright....where is the back shaft for the rear of the quadrant....i cant find it anywhere...im gonna have to do it after work...but if you guys could let me that would be awesome. thanks. i looked all over for that shaft..but couldnt find it or feel it

The back shaft is connected to your clutch pedal. The front shaft is stationary. The quadrant pivots on the front shaft and is lifted by the rear shaft.

Thank you! Just released the kit recently. The adjuster has a self-locking mechanism which engages every 1/4 turn. No jam nuts or set screws to deal with.
yeah....thats what i thought. the front shaft is hooked up...but the back shaft is just sitting on top of the clutch assembly...it moves up when the pedal is pushed in but its not connected to any shaft of any sort. and i cant figure out where the shaft is that its connected to. if someone has a exploded picture of the clutch assembly that would be great. thanks for the help guys

a little advice to someone who has never done this....NEVER DO IT!.....this is the most retarded thing ive ever seen on a car...and the most retarded person is the person i bought my car from so obviously he didnt remove the entire old quadrant...which i have to try to get off in the middle of the night so i can get to class in the morning. someone remind me to find this kid and beat him severely. there is no possible way that the back quadrant piece will come off the clutch assembly, ive put everything ive got into prying that crap off and it wont come off. so if youre planning on doing this...just pay someone to do it and dont trouble yourself

The easiest way to get the back part of the quadrant off is to take a hacksaw blade and cut the little piece that sticks out at right angles - I think it is where the spring for the ratchet mechanism attaches. Anyway it is hollow, so 5 or 10 minutes of sawing will get it off. Then you can rotate the part about 180 and it will now clear the metal frame work that initially prevents it from sliding off. Hope that makes sense. I tried prying etc, but there is no way that sucker was coming off - once I cut the part off to allow it to rotate, it comes right off.
