He seems very nice, and willing to help, as are you Randy. I'm glad there are people out there willing to help others.

I'm sure either way it will work out.

If the valve make that much difference. You should cc the heads with the old valves and the new valves and see how CR you have lost.

did you check the pics Stan? it's not really that much. There is a buttload of material around the outer side of the valve head, but the valve dish seems to be the same. That would be great if I lost a little compression. With my milled heads and PI swap, i'm close to 10.7:1 anyhow. I'm running -4 deg. timing from my base tune because of ping problems.

When I go here http://forums.************.com/4-6l-...tml#post846541 I get "Page not found". At a bare min I would guess you are down .15 to .2 on the CR. Remember on a 281 ci engine it only takes a cc or two.
Stan

Edit:
You have 10.7:1 CR. If you add
0.5 cc --> 10.62:1
1.0 cc --> 10.54:1
1.5 cc --> 10.46:1
2.0 cc --> 10.38:1

sorry stan, where the ***** are, type modular depot, without the space between the words. For some reason stangnet won't let modular depot be one word, like this, here's what happens when i type modular depot as one word: ************

You have to type it in your browser manually. There are lots of pics on that thread.

Awsome man! Glad that did it! And yep, that does not happen with the 99-04 cars...definatly not with the 01-04s. And yes the stock cam gears can vary up to what 5-6*s either way, per Fords spec.

Should get a bit more flow out of those valves as well

And stan....get a PC LOL

Now that I have seen the pictures. What was the valve stem to guide clearance on the old valves? What did the valve guide seals look like? I do not thing you lost very much in the way of CR.

Not sure on the stem to guide clearance. I didin't feel loose, and the seals were fairly new, had them put in about a year ago when i did the headswap. I put new ones one this time around also.

Started degreeing last night, looks like I am going to have to run them -5 degrees to get .070 clearance, which puts me around -1 degree being as comp grinds 4 degrees advance into them to begin with.

Up and running! Got it all buttoned up tonight with the help of some very good friends! Sounds great, got a decent idle. Lost a lot more low end power than I had expected, but gained decent up top. Next test and tune is Friday, we'll see what happens then. I'm full well expecting the same time, as i lost on my 60' for sure.

Looks like a stall is in order!
