Wondering if you guys could help me? I just bought a used steering box which has a code C7ZR3550A SMB K 8A24. I am want to know how I can tell if this is a manual steering box? Manual has 4 or 5 turns. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The SMB-K code box is for a power steering car. It has a 16:1 ratio with 3-3/4 turns lock-to-lock.
This is the same box I have in my '68 --which I later changed to manual steering [but retained the quick ratio box] because the power steering pump & brackets were missing off my '68 when I bought it in '82.
The SMB K Box is a 1 1/8" sector, Short shaft, 4 Turn Box (The 3 3/4 Turn is a Misprint), all SMB K, SMB E, are 4 turn. Turn the Box, all the way from left to right, it will turn 4 Turns if a True SMB K. If it turns 5 Turns, it is a SMB D Box, wrong tag.
Difference between 4 turn, E Boxes, and K Boxes are the sector, E Boxes are 1", K 1 1/8"
That box will fit all 67-70 Mustang--No Fairlanes- with the rag joint style steering column.
Will not fit the early 67 Mustang with solid shaft steering.
It is a "Power Steering" box, again 4 turn as used on the Power Steering cars. Remember, there is NO POWER in the box, it is a matter of Gears, Gear ratio, not Hydraulics involved in the " Power Steering" Designation.
Thank you both for the detailed information. I found at website that helped me decode the steering box. I looked at what I have on my 67 and it has a tag of SMB B which has a 1" shaft. According to http://www.stangerssite.com/steeringboxtagdecoder.html website, I have a steering box that will work with both Power and Manual. My 67 currently has power steering and wanting to convert it to a manual. Now, I am needing a pitman arm that is for a 1" shaft that connects at the bottom of my manual centerlink.
Do you guys have any suggestion where to find this type of pitman arm for cheap?
