Why does the nation's youth need to be afflicted with these liberal zealots? You realize that "economic justice" is a looney left code word, and your teacher is a nut job for coming up with this assignment.

My advice is that you either write a brilliant paper, or just knuckle under to what the idiot wants and write about some anti-globalization drivel crap. But chances are, no matter how brilliant your writing is, you won't get a good grade unless you pander to your teacher's politics.

ya the problem is that my teacher is actually a real smart guy and he made a point of not saying what his view on it was, he wants us to come up with something on our own...and the best part is that it needs to be 10 pages

And your opinions don't make things better....

You do realize that this guy, regardless of opinion, is the teacher whether you or anyone else likes it or not. Go ahead and write a paper off topic, bashing the "liberal zealots" and see where it gets you. Abso-****ing-loutely nowhere. And, you did it (wrote the paper) all for....what? To appease your meaningless personal political agenda that means nothing to the people reading your paper.

May I add, too, that your ridiculous political attack is just as frivolous as you make this assignment out to be. "Don't write the paper because it's a looney 'left' idea." Have you ever thought of broadening your horizons, buddy? Why don't you put your 'looney' right spin on this 'left' idea? That would actually be helpful for the kid - not your nonsensical ramblings that did dog **** for him.
------------------------------------------------------------------

IEatRice - I'm pretty brain dead, but an idea of economic justice would be paying people what they deserve - especially teachers and police officers. That right there is enough for 10 pages, but I'm not quite sure that fits the idea of "Economic Justice". Good luck.

he didn't define it...that my whole problem, trying to come up with good subpoints is actually really difficult when you have to define the term all by yourself

Joe, I'm lost. A couple of things you said made sense, but I'm having a hard time parsing most of it.

Let me start by pointing out that I was trying to help. Economic justice is a political code word, I don;t care what your politics are. That's a simple fact. And the fact that a teacher chose this as an assignment reveals his/her politics. Worse yet, the political load of this concept is not a matter that many school age guys would know or care about. So I was trying to help him out by pointing out the inherent dangers in this "assignment." With that knowledge, it's up to him how to attack the situation (e.g. write from his convictions or simply choose to pander).

And I don't know that you can read my politics from my classifying this concept as "looney left." It's a matter so far outside the mainstream that it is looney. Even Ted Kennedy, if he ever got off the sauce long enough, might agree with that.

Where did I suggest that?

I never suggested writing an off topic liberal bashing paper. I suggested either pander or write a brilliant paper. That's the only way to win here. If you pander to a zealot, they will think you smart because you come to the same conclusions they do. But if your paper disagrees with the mindless wanderings of a true zealot, it better be brilliantly reasoned, constructed and written so there is no choice but to grade accordingly (highly, that is).

I don't remember writing that?

What does all that mean? See my first comment above for how I tried to help (by identifying the spin inherent in the assignment). I'm not spinning the concept of economic justice - the lib's have already done that.

Now this is good advice. I don't know that it will yield 10 pages (you did it in 2 lines), but if I were cornered with this "assignment" then your suggestion is probably right where I would go.

There are at least a few different ways I could think you could take this (legitimately - without playing this as a political hot potato). But first, what is the class that this comes from? And second, what other subjects have you covered in the course up to this point?

I took some crim. justice courses that hit on the topic of econ. and crime theories.

now its "kinda" on the base of economic preasure to involve yourself in crime...it not a money or how much you earn. But socialy that those with money say what is legal or not legal.

There are many examples in history that show how those that are the "have's" make the "have not's" do something. Even in the history of the police in how it used to be something that was rotated around the community. Leading to the poor who could not "pay or force" others to do it for them or be the ones who eventually kept doing it as no one else would.

Economic justice would seem to be more of a social issue. However, not a politicle agenda issue that gets passed around. In our culture that is VERY object/possesioin based its simply a "hot button" used to get people all P'sed off.

If I had to pick a direction it would be to dig up the history of this and not focus on the blame/finger pointing BS. Unless you go the direction that we are all guilty.

Teachers nowadays will catch that. They have a program, all they need to do is copy and paste your essay into a search engine and if you have plagarized, BAM you're busted.

Who's complaining? I called a spade a spade. If that's complaining, then whatever. And how is your comment any different that what you try to mock?

BTW, if I'm a neocon nut, then you are a in bed with the Seattle anti-WTO rioters. Given the choice, I'll take the former.

this is exactly what happens when anything political is brought up on the internet. why wouldn't you just ask some fellow classmates for advice or even the teacher to find out exactly what he is looking for in the paper.

I don't know if it's too late or not, but you could try here. Justice as fairness.

Here's the conservative reply to distributive economic justice.
