I have a 1995 Mustang 5.0 I already installed my rear springs and shocks, but I can not find the right spring compressor for the front springs. I have one now, the type for internal spring compression, but it will not fit in through the bottom of the A-arm. Where did you guys get the compressor from? Also, any tips when putting in the front springs/shocks? I have the manual and have read through the entire process.
Please help me!!!!

Or do I not need a spring compressor?
Can I just take the strut off and then pull out the spring?

You can use a floor jack to slowly lower the spring releasing the pressure. I dont have time to type up the entire procedure right now but thats how I did it. Hopefully someone can walk you through it.

I went out and bought the OTC Ford Spring compressor tool, which goes in from the bottom. With that, it's no problem compressing the springs. Here's a link:

The tool wasn't cheap (~$250), but using it felt a lot safer than lowering the control arm with a floor jack. For those of you that are in SoCal (West LA area), I can lend you the tool if you want it.

you can take the spring out without the compressor, just lower with the jack, its not going to pop out at you. you can push the A-Arm all the way down and just kick the spring out, the new springs should go in a lot easier than the old springs for obvious reasons.

Hmmm...... I had the car up on 4 jack stand whenI did mine way back when. I put a floor jack underneath the control arm, when I went to lower it, it didn't release the spring all the way. I pulled the floor jack out of the way, put a spring compressor on it, and basically stood on the control arm, and the spring came right out. A spring compressor is VERY useful when it comes to that kind of stuff. However, the ain't gonna pop out and cut your legs off, so just try standing on the control arm. Then get a buddy to pull it out. Hope this helps.
