Ok here's the deal, I was driving a friend in town at about 15 mph or so and I smelt something burning and right after a little smoke started coming out of where the glove box is.

I immediately pulled it off the road, turned off the ac and shut it down.

for the last couple of weeks my car has been making a noise at about 2200 rpm's which sounded like a loose piece of metal vibrating against another just for a quick couple of seconds. < when I started the car and took off this morning it did it a bit more than normal at first - now after the smoke show the car sounds like shes running normal again, I cant get the car to make that vibrating sound now....

if it is the ac compressor, can i just not use it for a while and the car will be fine? Just went to ford and they told me the compressor alone is $650... I can think of a lot of cooler stuff to do with that money than have ac in the car.

Thanks for your help guys
