well i let my dad borrow my car and the key broke off in the ignition. its not his fault becuase i did the same thing 2 years ago. under normal circumstances, i would just try to take the broken part out and make a copy with the 2nd set of keys. problem is, I LOST THE 2nd set. AHHH. I can still start the car with the broken key. I always end up finding my keys when i lose em, but sometimes months later. so what shoud i do? I really dont want to be left with just one remote fob. If i remove the broken part, will it be possible to make a copy of that? can i buy just one new remote fob from ford? AHHH so pissed.

I would keep the key in there (which allows you to press the release pin) and remove the cylinder. Then have a locksmith remove the key and cut a new key for your lock.

Good luck

Definitely with JT on this one. It sounds like you can still manipulate the key, so turn it to the on position and pull the cylinder (PM me or post if you need directions, I just did this the other day). Then a locksmith should be able to cut a key for it.

I cut keys at work all the time - if you can get the key out than your basic key cutter should be able to do it no prob. I did the other day. On most key machines, the machine will grip the key on the area that is cut, not near or on the big part where you usually hold it, so I highly doubt you will need that part.
