(in my opinion) him puting on less than 100 miles in 2 years sounds like he basically abandoned the car and doesnt care about it. be cautious man..

This is for your girl, nothing from the fox era... I mean they are great cars but Ford did a lot of work updating everything from the Fox to the SN95....

I would also say a v6 from 94+... probably easy to find a really nice clean one for low $$s....

Think we found a winner:
1993 Mustang 5.0 convertible

What you guys think its like 2 hours away... but seems solid... If we can pick it up for like $1800 then the $200 will cover a set of JY seats.... The she has $1200 to put rims tires on it or fix the rust and get it painted

That car would look good sprayed black. I'd check with the fox guys on where to look for rust.
Definately needs another interior color. White interior looks like crap unless it's brand new(or kept in such a way), and even then it wouldn't be my choice.
The 5.0 seems like a much better idea than a 4.6. If something does go wrong, you can pickup Explorer motors pretty cheap.

I know ive even found her a 95 accord that my parents friends would sell me for under $2k with only 80k on it. My girl is picky and refuses to drive it. I was going to Spend my $$$ on it for her for her to drive untill she finds a stang then just clean it up and flip it when we find her a stang. But... she wont drive it. She wants a mustang... im finding cleaner ones at the 4k mark but its more then she wants to spend and she thinks this is here only chance at owning a mustang and only wants to spend 3k. For some damn reason... when im looking for a 5speed for my self i cant find them... But when i NEED an AODE... all i find is t-5's and i dont wanna do a t-5 to aode swap. If i could just find a decent 94-95 it would be great... I have so many extra parts...

I am not trying to be a dick, but honestly I think your girlfriend needs to grow up. The fact that she refuses to drive a Honda and has to have a Mustang shows a complete lack of maturity. It is so nieve to be in this kind of a mindset espeically when you are young. Doesn't it seem a little ridiculous to have to have a laundry list of crap you gotta fix just to make this car decent? She wants a Mustang, well great, BUT SHE CANT AFFORD IT. What she can afford is a sorry excuse for a Mustang and is going to be nothing but headaches for you and just like BlackGTS said, YOU are going to be responsible for everything with it. The smart thing is not a Mustang. Please don't take this the wrong way, but I would tell her too bad if she wants a Mustang. I wouldn't help her look for one. It's just not a good idea.

I know ive tried to tell her otherwise... But what can i do... i got her first fox for $800 and its lasted 2 years... so....

Here is what im looking at now... worth saving???

93 Mustang LX 5.0 convertible
automatic, 160k miles, trans rebuilt 10k miles ago. New top motor, water pump. all paperwork. Black top and glass replaced 5 years ago, no tears.
Runs strong, needs body & interior work- rust, upholstery.
mods: 3.73 gears, Bassani X-pipe w/cats, Walker Dynomax catback, Eibach shocks (w/lifetime guarantee), Kenny Brown chassis kit (subframes, strut & underbody brace), K&N, Cervini 1" cowl hood and SE spoiler fiberglass trunk. Original hood, trunk and catback exhaust included. Car has never been at the strip or abused, it is a daily driver and a fun cruiser. Alpine stereo and a Viper alarm.
Great project car or a reliable daily driver. Valid inspection, and when you're driving with the top down you don't care about Jersey traffic.
Asking $2000 firm

You think that i might be able to talk him down a little... think the rust is beyond repair... she will have $1000 left over to spend to get this in to shape...

the rust alone is going to be a pain in the ass, the interior is to ****s...

its a 50/50... if ur gonna b the one to worry about it and it not be YOUR car, like the others said it might be more headaches than expected..

If you were willing to drive a ways, a decent 5.0 fox can be had out here (Colorado) for around the price youre looking to pay. The good thing about the cars out here is usually no rust, so if you found a good runnibg one it would be less expensive to paint. See... 88 ford 5.0 mustang 1988 Ford Mustang coupe , 5.0.

Those two do look a little rough, but still it's only every once in a while that you can find cheap foxbodies like that down here. Everyone wants like $5k for an average Fox here. I mean they're usually completely rust free, but I don't see how a car with 150k+ miles could still be worth that much.

This looks nice... she doesent like green but it looks clean with the white top and interior... 7up style ... i like it alot actually... Called the guy... he still has it says the hood and wing could use respraying... but the ashtray even works... he said it could use a new radiator cause the one in it leaks slightly. he says its got a new waterpump/plugs/wires and is mechanically sound
