I currently have a s/c 302 in my 94 but am considering upgrading to either a dart or boss 302 block and stroking to a forged 331 with fast computer system. I am looking to make 600rwhp. Please chime in on the fuel rails, injectors, heads, shocks, struts, and cam to use. I know for a blown 302 the steeda# 19 is choice for idle issues, but will the fast computer system help with that. I currently have a tremec 6 speed tranny with 3:55 gears. I know the axles will need to be upgraded but will the rear end have to be changed?. This car will see light track duty and more of a weekend warrior. please give me any suggestion. Thanks

I won't go into your choice of combo parts
but
I'll share a thought or two about the tune

You're gonna go with a method to CUSTOM tune

Having said that

I'd advise you to think differently :Word:

You don't have to give consideration to things such as a cam

You are gonna have the ability to tune around things
so
You have very little need ... if any

to try and compensate with choice of parts (cam) to achieve drivability :Word:

I'd stress my experience has been focused around STREET cars
so
I'd seek out peeps who have DONE that which you desire to do

Find some folk who have tuned with your choice of equipment

Sounds like a nice project ... Good Luck

Just throwing ideas out here...

Heads - I would say you need something like AFR 185's or maybe Victor Jr.'s. Heads with larger exhaust ports would be ideal, to remove all that air faster.

Cam - Custom, bottom line. If you are going through the work of rebuilding the motor, might as well install the best cam you can. Get a hold of Ed Curtis or Jay Allen.

Fuel - I'd say maybe look into something like an Aeromotive kit. In addition to rails and injectors, you'll need a fuel pump, lines, fittings, maybe a FMU. For what size injectors, I'd say 42's??? I thought I read somewhere the stock rails can handle about 600 HP.

Suspension - Something from Steeda should work, or maybe Maximum Motorsports(more road race oriented). Steeda works very closely with Ford to develop quality parts designed to fit well on our cars, unlike something that "fits". Maximum Motorsports will have more "hardcore" pieces to choose from, but good none the less.

Just my thoughts on some things, hope it helps. Good luck.

will I have to notch the pistons with the afr 185's?. Are the stock rails good to 600 rwhp or is that at the flywheel?. I already have a 225 in tank pump and an external 225 pump. Will the stock rails suffice. The car currently has upper and lower control arms, full length subframe connectors, steeda lowering springs, and cast and camber plates. I am looking for ideas on shocks and struts to put the power to the ground.

The F.A.S.T. System from what I was told is a batch fire (Does one side of the mtor, then the other side.. kinda like a TBI setup i suppose) injection system... (which had alot to do with why I didn't go with it myself...)

Also, from what I was told, you have to replace the wiring harness with FAST's harness... (read: More money)

I went with the AEM system since its a sequential system (meaning each injector fires one at a time)

It also uses the stock wiring harness with some small modifications....

Yeah i found that same info out today. In fact a tuner told me it was just a little more to tuning than going with simple sct chip and dyno. I might just put the money into upgraded fuel rails. Does anyone know what type of rails to purchase to sustain atleast 600rwhp?. I'm trying to do this the right way the first time. any info is greatly appreciated...

Apparently my ex-husband made that mistake.

If you build a 331, it's going to come with a good quality aftermarket piston that is going to have good valve relief in it.
