Guy was told it's from an 89 fox. Looks to me to be coded to be 81. But looks to be a roller block....
Thoughts?

It's definitely a roller block, so it's not an 81' The actual year doesn't matter much.

I have never actually used Tinder, but I believe you swipe the picture left if you are not interested, and swipe right if you are interested. It's a speed "hook up" based on a picture.

There should also be a partial VIN up on the rear China rail area


However, a Mustang 302 block will be cast E7tE. That appears to be an e1te block, which I believe is a truck 302 (not positive)

Transmission will have one too. Pass side front edge where it bolts to the bellhousing if a T5.

I'll have to look at my block I have on a stand. Supposedly it came out of a 1989 or 1990 Mustang.

I also just had my trans out and didn't notice any numbers, but I wasn't looking either.

What's the difference between the Truck block and the Mustang Block of the same year. Let's say 88 for this conversations sake?

Blocks are blocks for the most part. Difference would be the internal parts, mostly pistons and cams.
Truck 5.0 engines had the 302 firing order and lower compression pistons.
any other differences or if I'm wrong will be noted by experienced members.

Cam wouldn't concern me. If the pistons are subpar, maybe.

As long as you're doing this, do a 351W.

Passing on the 351. Sticking with the 302 family. Dont like the fit in a 66 from what I've seen. Plus the proper headers that dont have to bashed to all hell are a bit steep.

I don’t think that’s a 7.

Looks like a 1 to me

It is a 1 but it is supposed to be a 7. Whom ever was in charge of setting up the engineering number on the blocks that day at the foundy picked a 1 instead of a 7. No an uncommon mistake.
