Help me figure out what motor this is

Ford motor, distrubtor in front, motor has a 7 stamped on block on drivers side nest to dial pin in rear of motor. Guy said its out of a Grand Marquis car about 87 or 88 year model. Motor is a carb with 2 barrel, has an automatic aod tranny behind it. Has 4D28 stamped on intake beside distributor cap. Cant find any other numbers on it.

it sounds like a 351w. as i recall those were the last years for that engine in the fullsize fords. look on either side of the distributor near the top bolts that secure the timing cover. if you see a reinforcing rid that runs from the bolt to the top of the block, then you definately have a 351w. no rib it is a 302.

I got my 351W from an 87 Crown Vic Police car and it had the 2V carb still with it.

probably a variable venturi carb actually, i don't think ford was using any other carburetor in the late 80's

It's also possible that it doesn't have the original intake on it. My 87 block has an 83 intake on it.
