I was wondering what the broken white line in the picture is for. It looks like it has something to do with emissions but I wasn't sure. I know it's been broken for some time now though; how important is it?

looks like a vacuum line that opens/closes that valve for something in the EGR system.

I would say don't worry about it, but mabye cap them both off or just re-connect them if it bothers you.

I ditched my EGR stuff so long ago that I really couldn't tell you exactly what it is for...

That line goes to the smog system that goes to the back of the heads. I think it opens and closes that valve right there which allows the air(smog) pump to pump the air from the back of the heads thru the pump and down to the H pipe. The reason u dont notice any difference is because we all know smog does nothing for performance. So u can either leave it the way it is or redo the whole vacuum tree with rubber vacuum hose from a hardware store. Its really easy and allows you to hook up guages ect alot easier. I would redo it, because chances are another one of those little vacuum hoses is going to break sooner or later and u will get a crap idle because of a vacuum leak.

Alright thanks for the replies. I went ahead and reconnected it.

One more thing...what's that plastic split loom on the upper radiator hose for? I accidently broke mine off recently.

yea it shouldnt really matter, except my alternator caught fire once and that was the only thing that kept my hose from melting and the high pressure of my cooling system spraying all over my engine bay. Just something to think about.
